Should we stop using social media?

We are all easily accustomed to things that we have been doing for many years. This is perhaps much the case with your use of social media. Your life is lived in two contexts: the physical and the online world. The latter has gained increasing importance over time such that it has become integrated into your daily activities.

You may feel that you are wasting time on social media, but in reality it is a necessity to maintain your job and for keeping up with friends. You also want to keep track of the news because you care about what happens around the world.

If you stop using social media, then your job and personal relationships will suffer. You may not be able to keep up with the news because doing so takes time away from actually living life. This means that as a human, it is better for you to continue using social media.

If you really want to stop using social media, then perhaps the first thing to do is think about whether it is really worth it. Will your life be better without social media in your daily routine? How much time will you have back?

And think about what it is that you do on social media. Are you just wasting time there, or are you getting something out of the experience? What if we were to compare your use of social media with other activities?

The reason why you are using social media is to maintain your job, relationships and keep up with the news. You could just as well do these things face-to-face if that were an option. But it isn’t.
