Does the truth matter?

Regardless of what you think about Donald Trump, one thing is undeniable. His presidency is pushing the limits of truth and questioning whether truth is absolute or relative…and if it all really matters.

There are many kinds of truths. For example, there is scientific truth and artistic truth. The two are rather different from each other.

However, it seems to me that one can say that the truth matters because not having a clear idea of what is true and what isn’t would lead to chaos.

In a sense, the truth is linked to how society works. If you don’t know what’s true or not, then there would be no way for people to communicate with each other.

In order to communicate with each other, people need to be able to understand what the other person is saying. It’s hard for them to do this if one or both of them are speaking lies.

Of course, there is another way to look at this. One could say that the truth doesn’t matter because even if one knows what’s true and not, they can choose to do whatever they want anyways.

For example, if someone knows that stealing is wrong but still does it anyways.
