It is hard to be sure, but my guess is that the upcoming US election should not be canceled. Though it seems like a bad idea in many ways, I believe that canceling elections would do more harm than good.
First, the reasons to cancel elections are not particularly good. Someone probably has a better idea of how horrible this election is than I do, but it seems like there are many problems with electing candidates based on popularity or charisma rather than ability.
The current election is quite bad in a lot of ways, but I don’t think that canceling it would be the right way to fix it. The people who are running now are probably not the best and most qualified candidates for president, but they’re better than some of the alternatives.
Perhaps there could be a better election in the future that would be less flawed, but I think it’s unlikely. People will probably continue to make bad decisions about who to elect for president.
It would also be a bad idea to cancel elections because it wouldn’t do much good. I’m not sure how well it works in the long term, but for the short term, I think that having an ideal candidate come out of an election is better than canceling the election and hoping for a better one.
Canceling elections would only hurt the country. People are hurting right now from all of the problems we have with our presidential election system, and canceling the election would make things a lot worse.
This leads to another question. Should the upcoming US election be postponed? That is a good question, but something to consider later on…
